Flammability is the ability of a substance to burn or ignite, causing fire or combustion. The degree of difficulty required to cause the combustion of a substance is quantified through fire testing.
Flammability is the ability of a substance to burn or ignite, causing fire or combustion. The degree of difficulty required to cause the combustion of a substance is quantified through fire testing.
UL 94, the standard for safety of flammability of plastic materials for parts in Devices and Appliances testing. There are two types of pre-selection test programs conducted on plastic materials to measure flammability characteristics. The first determines the material’s tendency either to extinguish or to spread the flame once the specimen has been ignited.
There are 12 flame classification specified in UL 94 that are assigned to materials based on the results of these small scale tests. These classifications listed in descending order for each of the following three groupings are used to distinguish material’s burning characteristics after test specimens have been exposed to a specified test flame under controlled laboratory conditions.
The apparatus will be able to bend the sample backward and forward in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the conductors, the two extreme positions making an angle of 90° on both sides of the vertical.
Rate of flexing will be 60 per minute. A flexing is a movement through 180°.
A weight having mass of 0.5 kg will be provided with suitable grips for hanging to the sample.
The apparatus will have a provision for fixing the sample of tinsel cord (Flat) in the apparatus.
A 6 Digit reset able type counter with battery back-up (rechargeable) for retaining the information in case of power failure up to 72 hours will be provided for counting each flexing cycle.
The standard motors used in the apparatus.
The apparatus will be able to operate on single phase 230 V, 50 Hz. AC supply.

Introduction
The equipment is designed to meet the requirement of national and international standards to conduct accelerated aging before conducting Tensile Test for breaking and elongation.
The environment of the pressurized vessel an elevated temperature in an atmosphere of pressurized oxygen / air. the equipment is designed according to following standards
IS 10810 (Part 56) - 1987
ASTM D 572 - 1988
IS 3400 (Part 4) - 1987
Technical Specifications
• INTERNAL SIZE OF PRESSURE CHAMBER : 150 mm X 302 mm OR As per requirement.
• MAXIMUM WORKING PRESSURE : up to 23 kg/cm² (2.3 Mpa)
• SAFETY VALVE SETTING : 30 kg/cm² (3.5 Mpa)
• OPERATING TEMPERATURE : 5°C above ambient temperature to 150°C.

Sensors Aging ovens single shell or multi-shell are user friendly and as per the requirements of IS:10810 (Part-11), IS: 5831, IS:540 and other international standards.
• Plastics and rubbers are exposed to severity heat and weather conditions created in lab equipment. The severity of exposures in high temperature and in typical duration defined in IS:10810 (Part-11), IS: 5831, IS:540 and other international standards. This test makes an assessment of change in tensile strength and elongation of materials on subjecting them to accelerated aging in air.

The apparatus is designed to measure the smoke density from the burning or decomposition of plastics as per the requirement of the ASTM D 2843 standard. The apparatus consists of smoke chamber and control console.
The white background will permit observations of the flame, smoke and burning characteristics of the material. The viewing of the exit sign help to correlate the visibility and measured values. The specimen is supported on a 64 m.m. base and is equidistant from all sides of the chamber. The screen will lie on a stainless steel bezel supported by a rod through the right side of the chamber.
From the same rod a similar bezel located.
This rod supports a square of asbestos paper which cactus any material that drip from the specimen during the test. By rotation of the specimen holder rod, the burning specimen is quenched in a shallow pan of water positioned below the specimen holder.
At the above location and out side the chamber tubular boxes containing the light source with necessary lens and mirror on one side and a special photocell with a set of baffles to prevent stray light, on the other side are provided. The light source is fitted inside the tubular box on the left hand side of the chamber.
The source consists of a lamp with a regulated power supply fitted with a reflector mirror, and a converging lens. The reflector lens arrangements make the light beam on the photocell housed in the right hand side box.
The percentage of light absorbed will be displayed through a linear amplifier digital electronic photometer with 0% to 100% absorbency scale with auto calibration system.
The control console houses the electronic circuitry of the equipment and is attached to the chamber. The electronic regulator provides highly stabilized DC power to the light source and to the toggle buttons, control the exhaust blower, and exit lamp.
An electronic presentable timer with buzzer alarm every 1 second helps to record the smoke density values very accurately.Provision to switch ON or switch OFF by operating a single button.
Operating Voltage 230 V/ 115 V AC, 50 Hz. The lamp voltage, timer, temperature and smoke density values are digitally displayed with illuminated legends on the converting red display window.
Data acquisition system: Necessary A/D converter, connecting cables and other hard ware and Denssmoke software for plotting graph making necessary tables on PC.
SIZE: As per requirement.
TEMPERATURE RANGE: Ambient +10 Deg. to 300 Degree C
ACCURACY: +/- 0.5~1.0 Degree C
TEMPERATURE RESOLUTION: 0.1 Degree C
CONTROL ACCURACY : better than 1% OF OVER ALL RANGE
